Breast Center of Excellence Recognized for Outstanding Care
St. Mary-Corwin Hospital’s Breast Center of Excellence (BCOE) recently received its triple accreditation for the 10th year in a row! We remain the only center in Colorado with NAPBC, NQMBC Quality Breast Center of Excellence, and ACR Breast Imaging Breast Center of Excellence status—three accreditations that recognize our high-quality operations, standards, and multidisciplinary care.
Congratulations to the incredible Breast Center of Excellence team! These repeated accomplishments are just one example of how our experts put patients first and are dedicated to ensuring our rural community has access to the most comprehensive breast care.
We are so grateful to everyone who has generously donated to the center. A special thank you to Robert Mysliwiec, MD, for his major gift and generous support of our BCOE. Because of incredible supporters like Dr. Mysliwiec, our Foundation has helped fund leading-edge technology: digital mammography, 3D mammography, and the state-of-the-art Trident imaging system. The Trident specimen radiography system offers remarkable image quality, right at the point of care.
With the Foundation’s support of the newly dedicated satellite Breast Center of Excellence at Pueblo West this year, the new 3D mammography unit provides state-of-the-art equipment for screenings and ease of access. Continuing our support even further, we were approved to fund a $302,000 Hologic 3D mammography unit on our hospital’s campus. 3D mammography can detect higher rates of invasive breast cancers, saving more lives in our community.
Our Breast Center provides services to more than 50% of Pueblo and surrounding communities, and we’re one of the busiest mammogram departments in this region. New, state-of-the-art equipment allows us to continue offering advanced imaging to patients—providing peace of mind and comfort to our neighbors.
