Patient Needs
As a non-profit hospital, St. Mary-Corwin relies on philanthropy to support our care teams in delivering the very best care for our patients and community. We are grateful; for generous support from individuals who partner with the Dorcy Cancer Center to bring world-renouned cancer-fighting technology and treatments to Pueblo.
One such individual, Mary Jane Voelker, lived out that commitment by leaving a legacy of compassion for others.
As an enthusiastic contributor to the paddle raiser at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital Foundation’s annual signature Cowboys Kickin’ Cancer event, Mary Jane was devoted to raising awareness and support for the Dorcy Cancer Center. She inspired countless others to give generously with her participation in these events, as well as with her challenge match to the Cancer Center Patient Needs fund.
Mary Jane cared deeply about making world-class cancer care accessible, free of the burden to travel for treatments. When she passed away in 2021, she shared a transformational legacy gift of $5 million to St. Mary-Corwin Health Foundation, designated for the Dorcy Cancer Center. Subsequently, we were pleased to accept additional gifts from the Mary Jane Voelker Family Trust totally more than 8.2 million for the programs and services of the Dorcy Cancer Center meeting the needs of our patients.
Our Foundation and Leadership teams are forever grateful for the legacy of dedicated supporters like Mary Jane recognizing the humankindness of such an incredible individual.
