Climbing For Dave
18,200 feet. $18,200. Climbing for Dave. Climbing for Hope.
This October, Sandy Cooke will trek to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar in Nepal in memory of her late husband, Dave, an avid climber who passed away from pancreatic cancer nearly five years ago.
The journey has special meaning for Sandy, who celebrated her own five-year milestone as a breast cancer survivor this past March. During their cancer journeys, Sandy and Dave experienced firsthand the compassionate, professional care of the Oncology and Hospice teams at Mercy Hospital in Durango.
To honor Dave with hope, Sandy is Climbing for Dave with a goal of raising $18,200 for Mercy Health Foundation — one dollar for every foot to the approximately 18,200-foot summit of Kala Patthar, the highest point of her trek near Everest Base Camp.
Funds raised will support Mercy Health Foundation's Closer to Home. Closer to Hope. campaign and its 10+ year vision to transform cancer care in Southwest Colorado — expanding access to exceptional, compassionate and comprehensive cancer care close to home while investing in the people, capabilities, facilities and technology needed to meet the evolving needs of our community and advances in cancer treatment.
Climbing for Dave. Climbing for Hope.
