Adam Ramirez and Family
In May 2024, the Ramirez family faced a devastating challenge when their son, Adam, was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Living in Pueblo, Colorado, over 45 miles from Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, they suddenly found themselves thrust into an overwhelming and uncertain situation. Adam’s condition was critical, and the family needed to be by his side, but traveling back and forth daily was simply not feasible.
Thankfully, Adam’s doctors referred his family to the John Zay Guest House, located on the campus of Penrose Hospital - where Adam spent the first part of his journey. The family was able to stay there while Adam fought for his life in the ICU.
When Adam was later transferred to St. Francis Hospital 16 days later, the Ramirez family was relieved to find the newly opened Ingram Guest House waiting for them. Just as they had experienced at John Zay, the Ingram House provided the same level of care, comfort, and support. The Ramirez family’s experience is a reminder of the powerful impact these guest houses have on families during their greatest times of need.
These guest houses, because of the generosity of donors throughout Colorado Springs and beyond, will continue to welcome and serve families like the Ramirez’s when they need us most.
