Women of Color Wellness Workshops

March 15: Spiritual Wellness

Hosted by Jennaya Colóns, Health Education Specialist

Join us at the Penrose Cancer Center for the Women of Color Wellness Workshops in March to learn about spiritual wellness!

Our presenter on March 15th will be Pastor Wanda Anderson from The Navigators. Her workshop is titled Holding Space. This workshop aims to raise consciousness, remove barriers, and guide people toward an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

Join us to learn about spiritual wellness, which enhances a sense of connection to a higher power, a purpose in life, and a set of ethics, values and beliefs that guide an individual's life. Having these tools allow you to overcome any challenges that life may present. These skills help us prevent cancer, heal and cope with cancer, or help a loved one who has been diagnosed.

March is also Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and improving your spiritual wellness can motivate you to take the steps to improve your physical health! If you have any questions about cancer screenings, I am happy to help guide you to the answers you need.

About The Guest Speaker: Originally from Queens, New York, General Counsel and VP of Cultural and Community Affairs, Wanda G. Anderson has lived in Colorado Springs since 1996. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and her Bachelor of Arts in mass media from Hampton University. She joined The Navigators in 2016 after an extensive career as corporate legal counsel, bringing more than 32 years of multi- jurisdictional nonprofit governance, risk management, and executive leadership experience to her role.

Wanda describes herself as a “zealous advocate for and pastor of women, a grassroots supporter of marginalized communities, and a steadfast proponent of biblical justice who seeks to raise consciousness, remove barriers, and guide people toward an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.”

In addition to her roles with The Navigators, Wanda served as co-pastor of Solid Rock Christian Center with her husband, Rev. Benjamin Anderson for 19 years. Together they also lead Solid Rock Community Development Corporation.
